Summary

We are looking for a senior Technical Lead – Integration Architecture to lead the technical direction of a large-scale enterprise integration platform migration.

The role combines architecture ownership, hands-on development, technical decision-making, code review, security design, and production cutover leadership. You will work closely with integration developers, platform specialists, project leadership, and external technical teams to ensure that migrated APIs and integration journeys are secure, consistent, production-ready, and aligned with the target architecture.

This is not a purely architectural or management position. The Technical Lead is expected to remain hands-on, contribute code where required, review implementations, solve complex integration problems, and provide clear technical direction to the wider delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the overall technical architecture and key design decisions across the integration migration.
  • Provide technical leadership to Integration Developers and ensure implementations follow common architecture and engineering standards.
  • Review integration journeys and technical implementations before UAT and production.
  • Lead the analysis and migration of existing MuleSoft integrations into the target integration platform.
  • Define standards for journey design, error handling, retries, and reusable implementation patterns.
  • Resolve complex technical blockers and provide hands-on support to developers.
  • Design solutions for complex synchronous and asynchronous integration scenarios.
  • Create and maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) for significant technical decisions.
  • Lead technical preparation for production API cutovers, including go / rollback decisions.
  • Review QA and technical validation results before production releases.
  • Coordinate with API gateway, platform, security, and integration stakeholders to ensure production readiness.

Required Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in integration engineering, API management, enterprise middleware, or a related technical area.
  • Proven experience leading at least one major integration platform migration.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing production-grade OAuth2 / JWT security for APIs.
  • Previous experience with zero-downtime API cutovers in a production B2B environment.
  • Strong technical leadership and architecture decision-making skills.
  • Experience at Principal / Staff Engineer or Senior Integration Architect level.

Integration Platform Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of MuleSoft Anypoint / Mule 4, including flows, DataWeave transformations, API Manager, and RAML / OAS specifications.
  • Ability to analyze existing MuleSoft integrations, extract business logic, and redesign it for another platform.
  • Strong experience with at least one enterprise API Gateway, such as Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, TARDIS / StarGate, or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of API gateway routing, upstream configuration, timeouts, and token validation.
  • Experience with at least one low-code / iPaaS platform, such as Quickwork, Workato, Boomi, Azure Logic Apps, or Zapier Enterprise.
  • Ability to assess integration journey quality and platform constraints.

Security Expertise

  • Strong hands-on experience with OAuth2, OIDC, and JWT, including implementation of JWT validation, JWKS, signatures, and claims.
  • Good understanding of M2M authentication, including Client Credentials, token caching, and token refresh.
  • Working knowledge of TLS / mTLS and certificate-based authentication.
  • Strong understanding of secure credential handling and API security across gateway and integration-platform layers.

API Standards and Integration Design

  • Strong knowledge of OpenAPI 3.0, including the ability to author and review API specifications.
  • Experience working with TMF Open APIs, including standards such as TMF621, TMF622, TMF645, and TMF673.
  • Familiarity with MEF Sonata standards and integration models.
  • Ability to understand complex API data models, operations, callbacks, and notification patterns.

Architecture and Development Skills

  • Strong experience designing integrations around non-functional requirements including latency, throughput, reliability, and timeout constraints.
  • Ability to design synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns, including appropriate state and error handling.
  • Strong data-transformation design skills.
  • Hands-on Node.js / JavaScript skills sufficient to build production-grade integration and security components.
  • Understanding of versioning, rollback strategies, and code-review workflows.
  • Ability to create clear and structured Architecture Decision Records.

Leadership and Working Style

  • Able to act as the senior technical authority within a cross-functional project team.
  • Comfortable making and documenting important technical decisions.
  • Strong code-review and implementation-review capabilities.
  • Able to work directly with developers on complex technical problems.
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Structured and decisive approach to technical governance.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with TARDIS, StarGate, SpaceGate, Rover, or MissionControl.
  • Previous experience with Quickwork.
  • Experience with Salesforce CommsCloud / Vlocity integrations.
  • German language skills.
  • TMF Open API Certification.
